We’ve Launched A Music Platform!

For the past couple weeks, we’ve been hard at work building a new music platform where artists and labels can take full advantage of all of Entertonement’s social tools to promote their music. Using easily customizable artist pages, custom audio players, as well as APIs that plug into all the popular social media sites, record labels can post songs and interviews with the look and feel they design.

Fans also benefit from the new platform, by providing them with a central destination for their favorite artists …

Tweet Audio Clips Using Chir.ps!

We’re excited to announce that we just launched a Twitter API, Chir.ps (http://chir.ps), a way for users to tweet audio clips. These audio clips can come in a variety of forms – whether it is something you recorded, i.e. your own voice, sounds from an event, a question you pose to your twitter followers; an audio clip you found on the Internet or on Entertonement.com; or an audio file you’d like to upload from your computer.

We’ve Launched Our New Facebook App!

Earlier this week, we launched our new application for Facebook. Besides being much easier to use and keeping you on Facebook.com, other features include the ability to:
•    Choose from and post one of the week’s six most popular sound clips
•    Search for and preview sound clips from right within the app
•    Post a sound clip to your friends’ walls without them needing to have the app installed
We’re always looking for feedback, so if there’s something you’re craving and can’t live without, let us know or leave a comment.

Just in time for the New Year, we’ve upgraded and changed our site with a new look. After much deliberation and input from our users and a lot of hours from our great design team, we’ve made the site easier to navigate, with bigger, clearer icons and the most up-to-date, popular content front and center.
Our embeddable players have gotten a face lift too, so be sure to check out the players page to see how your sound bites will look in blogs, forums, and web sites. Have suggestions? Let us …

Sigh… I feel such warmth in my chest - could this be pride? Our humble little accelerator has been featured on the IE Addons Website!

With it you can just select the text in a web page, and listen to the sound bite from Entertonement right there (IE 8 required). How cool is that?
BTW, for more cool stuff you can do with our sound, don’t hesitate to check out our sample page.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Silicon Alley Insider (by way of the  NY Post’s Brian Garrity) for both mentioning us (and calling us cool!) in his post this morning. Many thanks!
BTW, for those looking to embed a very cool player in your OWN page (like this: ), we have a page that summarizes all your many options. Enjoy!

Another week goes by, and we’re shipping again! We’re very pleased
Just a few of the great new features in the site this week include:

Stream of “now playing” clips: this is, if I do say so myself, insanely addictive.
Top uploaders over the past week: upload and be proud!
Top collections (and a “Collections” tab): group stuff together so it makes sense for you, your friends, your friends of friends, your friends’ friends of friends, and so on.
The “baseball card” embedded player for image-based embedding: cool!

Is it possible that the mascot of our site could be a deep crow? Now that’s what I’m talking about.

When it comes to shipping a product, I believe successful companies fall into one of two camps: One, get the core of the product in as complete a state as you can, button it up and get it out the door, with the expectation that some finite amount of time later (note: must be < 1 month), you’ll have another revision ready to go; or, two, make sure every element is wrapped up as tight as can be and absolutely nail it.
On the Internets, I think the former is the …
